Calibration Data Management with vCDM: Efficient Parameterization of OBD Functions in the Engines Area

Vector and APS-technology will now be working together in calibrating on-board diagnostic functions. APS-technology is combining its own expert knowledge on efficient parameterization of OBD functions in the engines area with the vCDM calibration data management tool from Vector. Users will be able to display, compare and edit complex data structures in a clear layout. They will also be able to localize errors quicker, improving data quality.

APS-technology specializes in the development and testing of modern vehicle drive systems. In a first step of this collaboration, APS-technology calibration engineers will use the new Function Inhibition Matrix (FIM) Editor. When errors occur, it depicts the complex calibration of functional deactivations in the ECU in a clearly organized matrix structure. This simplifies OBD calibration and reduces errors in transmitting diagnostic information for derivative calibrations. In a second step, Vector will benefit from APS-technology knowledge in the development and testing of vehicle drive systems, so that it can significantly improve OBD calibration in the vCDM product.

APS-technology uses the vCDM data management system to control all powertrain calibration tasks in the areas of thermodynamics, emissions control, controllers, drivability and networking. The latest project results are immediately available to engineers – in the vehicle, at the test bench and on the office desk. "Timely and universal transparency of all changes supports team collaboration efforts and leads to higher data quality for our customers"says Gianni Di Martino, OBD team leader at APS-technology. Plans also call for taking further steps towards implementing automatic document generation and ECU monitoring.
